HEALTH CARE - General medicine

Know-how: Strategy planning

Dr. Juliette Tuakli - Child Inc.

Ghana

After a successful experience setting up a multinational floricultural company in Ghana, Dr. Juliette Tuakli recently brought together a group of medical practitioners to establish a medical clinic dedicated to pediatrics, psychiatry, gynecology and general medical issues. She is now seeking assistance to expand her business while considering three strategies: territorial expansion (replicating  the business model in Nigeria and Togo), advertising (an English law prohibits medical doctors to advertise in the media), and expansion of the services provided (creating an insurance).

Proper medical assistance is difficult to get in Ghana, and must be paid for in cash.  Mrs. Tuakli works with expatriates who have insurance companies in their home countries that reimburse the costs of visits. She thinks that creating an insurance system for local clients will allow her to attend clients whenever they need it, and will also contribute to expanding the business.
